As a young brand founder in his forties, it is hard to imagine that he was diagnosed with cataracts a few years ago. This change was also the reason for him to create GojiTech GojiBerry Viso I eye care product. Why did he develop cataracts before the age of 40? How did Mr Ng cope with these changes, you may want to read his story below.
In fact, in recent years, many eye diseases, such as cataract, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, etc. have a tendency to become younger, of course, this is certainly related to the emergence of smart phones in recent years, people focus on small emitting screens day and night habits; and although Mr Ng Siu-wai does not have the habit of heavy use of mobile phones in general, but his original work, but the same has brought a serious burden on his eyes. Prior to founding the GojiTech GojiBerry brand in Hong Kong, Mr Ng was a professional driver, and it was not uncommon for him to drive for 13 or 14 hours straight. The prolonged use of his eyes, coupled with the fact that he had to look directly at the fierce sunlight from time to time while driving, was actually harmful to his eyes.
Lifestyle habits are also a trigger
Under such a working environment, Mr Ng found out that he was suffering from Aedes aegypti when he was about 30 years old; however, as the disease was not serious and he was confident that he was strong and healthy, he had ignored the problem. Outside of work, Mr Ng also travelled a lot to social gatherings, where he smoked, drank and ate a typical urban diet with lots of meat and few vegetables. If everything had gone on as usual, Mr Ng probably would not have realised that he needed medical attention until he began to experience serious problems with his eyesight. However, by chance, when Mr Ng accompanied his family to the ophthalmologist for a follow-up appointment, he had his eyes tested on a whim, and learnt from the doctor that he had started to develop cataracts before he reached the age of 40.
In fact, the causes of cataracts and many other eye diseases are related to the accumulation of free radicals in the body. Free radicals, also known as free radicals or reactive oxygen species (ROS), are substances produced by the metabolism of oxygen in the body. Due to the unstable nature of free radicals, they bind to cells in the body and cause damage and ageing. Mr Ng's anosmia, which appeared in his thirties, is a warning sign that free radicals are eroding the lens of the eye, causing the protein fibres of the vitreous humour to agglomerate and deteriorate, resulting in the formation of vitreous deposits. One of the causes of cataracts is the deterioration and aging of crystals under the influence of free radicals, which results in clouding and blurring of vision due to the inability of light to pass through and project onto the retina.
Doctors recommend Goji berries to remove free radicals
The ultraviolet rays in the sun, the chemicals in alcohol and tobacco, as well as the dietary habit of eating a lot of meat and little food, all accelerate the body's oxidation process and produce more free radicals; and it so happened that the above "habits" all appeared in Mr Ng's life before the age of 30, which led to the development of cataracts at a much younger age than the general public. It is not a happy thing to suffer from cataracts at such a young age, but it was an opportunity for Mr Ng to learn from his mistakes. Apart from changing his lifestyle from smoking, drinking and eating too much meat and too little food, and leaving his job as a driver, which was the cause of his eye disease, he also asked his doctor the same question that you and I would probably ask: "What should I do to improve my condition?
Apart from changing his lifestyle, the doctor also advised Mr Ng to consider taking goji berries to protect his eyes. It turns out that wolfberry is rich in antioxidant zeaxanthin, which is the main component of macular pigment in the human retina, and it can help the macular part of the retina to fight against oxidation, inhibit the formation of macular pigment by free radicals produced in the process of light sensitivity, and increase the adaptability of the eyes to the dark environment. Wolfberry can also increase the efficiency of transferring ions, water and metabolic products from the subretinal cavity to the bloodstream and increase the ability of the eyes to take in nutrients from the bloodstream, slowing down the aging of the eyes and avoiding the production of cataracts.
The traditional way of consuming goji berries is to make tea with them. It is generally recommended to use about 40 capsules of Ningxia goji berries, add 500ml of water, cover it and then put it in the fridge for 24 hours and drink it together with the pulp, as this method can dissolve and reabsorb the active ingredients of goji berries. However, after searching around for the latest research on goji berries, Mr Ng came across an eye-friendly health food from Ningxia.
GojiTech Goji Berry Glycopeptide Viso I Helps Control Disease
This Lycium barbarum glycopeptide is produced using patented technology researched by Professor Tian Gengyuan of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, who has spent 30 years on the research. Using the methods of drying, soaking and extracting, de-seeding and peeling, centrifugation, sedimentation and separation, vacuum freeze-drying, etc., from the lycium polysaccharides of each grain of wolfberry, we extracted only 1% of the ingredients, which is currently known to be the most active substance in the Chinese wolfberry, the Lycium Glycopeptide.
After taking this GojiTech product for a period of time, Mr Ng's eye doctor was surprised that his condition had not deteriorated and was under very stable control at his yearly eye appointments. By chance, Mr Ng successfully introduced this LBP product and established his own Hong Kong brand, GojiTech LBP Viso I. Mr Ng went from being a 40 year old cataract patient to a young health product entrepreneur.
The "I" in Viso I is also a pun on "Eye". Apart from LBP, Viso I also contains blueberry extract and grape seed extract. In addition to antioxidant, free radical scavenging, retinal protection, prevention of eye problems, enhancement of body immunity, liver cleansing and anti-aging effects, Viso I can also help to improve dry eyes caused by prolonged use of the screen in a short period of time.
